My First Modern Quilt

So, I recently learned about "The Modern Quilt" appearantly it has to do with using contemporary fabric, geometric shapes, non-traditional blocks and negative space.  I tried to join the Modern Quilt Guild online, but it appears to have stopped working...still checking on it.  However, I think this one came out really well.  I actually made it for a friend of mine that has been diagnosed with stomach cancer and may not do well in the near future...please send good thoughts to her, if you have time - her name is Nita.

Of course, that is the best thing I ever made at the bottom - my baby-man!  I still need to put a border on it...any ideas?
