A new Era of Heirloom Quilt...in the last decades, a new era of "Heirloom Quilts" has arisen. One of these is the "T-Shirt" quilt. A quilt that has t-shirts from someone or somewhere that make up the blocks to commemorate a trip, a time in someone's life or to have something to do with t-shirts that are too dear with which to part.
I am also finding that when these new heirloom quilts are made and used (as in the days of yore) they soon need to be repaired. This is a labor of love that I am finding quilt fulfilling! I love to pull apart the totally loved stitches and replacing them with new stitches ready to be loved again.
The above is a wonderful t-shirt quilt that I am totally enjoying at the moment. I usually don't do this sort of thing, but the owner touched my heart with her story of this t-shirt quilt and I couldn't refuse. Today, I got the first row re-done and hope to get to work on it again soon!

I love the bright colors in this quilt! Have fun with the repairs!
What a lovely idea! The thing I always loved about our family quilts was my Grandaddy telling me where each piece came from. That he could remembers his mother's dress, or sister's, or whoever! What a great idea to modernize it with t-shirts. Awesome!
That is a T Shirt quilt? I would not have guessed it! What a lovely idea.
This is a lovely quilt and such a great piece of memorabilia! Good for you for taking on the repair work.
These t-shirt quilts are great. They are a really popular high school graduation gift where I live right now. What a great gig for a quilter - and must be fun too. No two would be a like!
They are so pretty! Thank you for sharing!
Lovely and vibrant quilt Liz. I love it!
This is a wonderful quilt, thanks for sharing this. Love the concept
Love the idea of a t-shirt quilt! So personal!
What a cool idea! It's so hard to part with favorite t-shirts!
Making a memory quilt out of meaningful t-shirts is a wonderful idea. I have a few t-shirt hanging in or folded up in my closet that I do not wear because I want to keep them but what to do with them? Now I know. Great idea.
What a wonderful idea. And I love your description of undoing stitches made with love and replacing them with more love. Thank you.
Our memories take so many forms, and "tactile" is one of them. That makes this kind of quilt that much more precious. Enjoy the repair process, Liz, and soak up the joy that will be sent back your way for your work!
Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and compliment!
"Quilt" an interesting idea! Perhaps this is "quilt" special to the owner that you could not refuse it. What is your next creative quilt idea in mind?
